Eye Disease Management

Mother Father and Son, multicultural family. It's worth preventing vision loss with early diagnosis of eye disease.

Ocular Disease Diagnosis and Treatment

retinal scan 200×300Crystal Vision Clinic provides medical care for ocular infections and inflammations such as keratitis (corneal inflammation), conjunctivitis (pink eye), uveitis (internal eye inflammation), as well as dry eye syndrome and eyelid conditions. Foreign body removal from the affected structures of the eye is also provided. If surgery is indicated for any condition, the patient will be referred to the appropriate surgeon.

Glaucoma and macular degeneration are common eye diseases often treated and managed at Crystal Vision Clinic. Each patient is screened appropriately for the existence of these conditions. Utilizing an OCT scan, our doctors are provided with color-coded, cross-sectional images of the retina. These detailed images are revolutionizing early detection and treatment of eye conditions such as wet and dry age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal detachment and diabetic retinopathy.

Evidence has shown that those patients with diabetes and hypertension are at a higher risk for developing glaucoma. Proper screening with both the Optomap® system and OCT scan will ensure the most comprehensive eye care for the patient.

Systemic Disease

Eye care is a vital component of care in patients with cardiovascular, neurological, autoimmune and many other systemic diseases. Diabetes, hypertension (high blood pressure), hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol), and thyroid dysfunction are all conditions that may cause problems in the eyes and affect vision. Our office works closely with other hospital health care providers and clinics to provide dilated eye exams. We also will communicate with your other health care providers when necessary.

  • Cataracts are a common cause of vision loss after age 55. Learn more about recognizing cataract symptoms, protecting your eyes and understanding cataract surgery.
  • Diabetes and vision go hand in hand. If you have diabetes, you need to know that having this systemic disease puts you at greater risk for developing vision problems.
  • Glaucoma is a condition that causes damage to your eye's optic nerve and gets worse over time, so nipping it in the bud will always be better for the person being tested.
  • The macula is the portion of the retina which provides sharp, central vision, and is involved in processing the fine details of the image. The breakdown of the macula is a disease called macular degeneration.
